Pakistan Auto Show 2016 concludes with More than 100,000 visitors and a new resolve to accelerate progress.
The success of this mega event has inspired the stakeholders
to put up an even bigger show in 2017.


Karachi: March 6, 2016 – The Pakistan Auto Show 2016 concluded at the Expo Centre in Lahore. The 3 day grand event, organized by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) from 4th to 6th of March 2016, attracted large crowds of more than One hundred thousand visitors and professionals, seeking fresh technological insights and valuable knowledge on the advancement of engineering in the industry. It featured a vast range of products and process displays from more than 200 international & local Auto-manufacturers and a myriad of enterprises operating in the relevant sectors. This pioneering exhibition showcases the robust growth and vast potential of Pakistan’s Automobile and engineering industry, reflecting the nation’s pursuit to become the future hub for auto manufacturing.

The Auto Show also featured numerous insightful seminars and training workshops, conducted by very learned speakers and experts, who disseminated high-valued information. These sessions were greatly appreciated by the industry professionals. A spectacular closing ceremony was orchestrated to conclude the show with great fanfare, where the leading personalities of the Automobile industry, the engineering communities and the regulatory authorities were present along with senior government officials, prominent social personalities and showbiz stars, like; Ali Zafar – the Pop music icon.

The Chairman of PAAPAM - Mr, Mumshad Ali commented stated that; As the demand for automobiles is expected to rise continuously over the next 3-5 years, the big challenge for Pakistan is to nurture local assemblers & vendors and ensure rapid investments in capacity-building, to meet the sharply rising demand. This industry has already achieved a high level of localization, whereby it boasts: 75% localization in Cars & HCVs, 96% in Tractors, 96% in Motorcycles and 80% in Three Wheelers. Its products are being exported to; The European Union, USA, African Countries and all over Asia. The Annual production in 2015 had reached; 180,000 cars, 1.8 million motorcycles, 4000 Trucks, 600 Busses, 47,000 Tractors and 50,000 Three wheelers. He further said that; We are delighted to see that the 2016 event received an overwhelming response from industry stakeholders, international large-scale buyers and diverse consumer segments, as the exhibition featured a wide range of products including; cars, tractors, trucks, buses, 4X4, Motorcycles, three wheelers and exotic cars. The presence of Globally leading companies like; Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Isuzu, Hino, UD Nissan and Yamaha from Japan, Massey Ferguson Tractors and Land Rover from UK, Fiat Tractors from Italy, FAW Trucks & Cars from China and many more, have thoroughly enriched the proceedings of the exhibition.

The Chief Organizer of Pakistan Auto Show 2016 - Syed Nabeel Hashmi said that: “Looking at the resounding success of this year’s event, we are thoroughly inspired to orchestrate the next year’s Auto Show on a much larger scale. However, we would like to urge the government to complete the construction of the Expo Centre in Lahore urgently, because in its current state this facility cannot accommodate the vast automobile industry of Pakistan. The industry leaders have urged the government to devise an effective Auto Policy in consultation with the experts, because this critical policy has been long awaited to enable faster progress of our industry. There are almost 3000 Auto Parts-Manufacturers operating all over Pakistan, whereby this industry has created almost 3 million jobs and opportunities for respectable income, engaging 500,000 skilled workers as Direct Employees and 2.4 million indirect employees. It has generated a robust Investment volume of Rs.270 billion, and contributes revenues of Rs. 110 billion per year to the national exchequer. It has also achieved an Import substitution worth US$ 3.3 billion per annum and an Exports volume of US$ 110 million per annum. Pakistan is already the cheapest source in the world, for producing tractors. Pakistan Auto Show 2016 attracting large crowds with
Technology Updates & Training Sessions


Karachi: March 5, 2016 – As the Pakistan Auto Show 2016 entered its 2nd Day, large crowds continued to gather and seek valuable information and knowledge. The grand event being held at the Expo Centre in LahTrore, will continue from the 4th to 6th of March 2016. Organized by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), it features more than 135 international & local Auto-manufacturers and related enterprises and showcases the vast potential of Pakistan’s robust Automotive industry. It also features numerous insightful training sessions where industry experts are providing technology updates and authentic knowledge to the thousands of professionals and visitors thronging the exhibition.

On 2nd day of the Show among the high profile visitors Federal Secretary for Industry, Italian Ambassador in Pakistan –Mr. Stefano, Co-chairman of Auto policy Committee ECC, -Mr. Zubair witnessed the exhibition. Furthermore, Mr. Ali Zafar, the brand Ambassador of Yamaha also visited the expo center.

The SVC of PAAPAM – Mr. Mashood Ali Khan stated that; As the demand for automobiles is expected to rise continuously over the next 3-5 years, the big challenge for Pakistan is to nurture local assemblers & vendors and rapidly generate investments in capacity building to meet the sharply rising demand. The base of Engineering Technologies in this industry is spread across; Sheet Metal Parts, Plastic Injection and Blow Molding, Rubber Components, Steel Forging & machining, Foundry / Castings, Aluminum Die Casting & machining and Electrical & Electronics, so we need to work on multiple fronts to achieve our growth objectives, while consistently maintaining the quality of our products.

Chief Engineering Development Board (EDB) inaugurates

This annual event will continue from the 4th to 6th of March 2016. Organized by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), the grand event features more than 135 international & local Auto-manufacturers and related enterprises. Speaking to the media, during the spectacular inaugural ceremony, The Chief Executive Officer Engineering Development Board – Tariq Chaudhry stated that: “Pakistan’s Automobile Industry continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy and elevating the image of Pakistan as a progressive country with a strong industrial base. The government is deeply committed to take all possible measures to encourage large-scale investments and enhance the business friendly environment for the Automotive and engineering sectors. We endeavour to provide a more enabling infrastructure, on war footings, to set up industries all over Pakistan. I congratulate our local industrialists and engineers who have achieved remarkable success in establishing a sophisticated engineering sector, which is creating tremendous new opportunities for value-added exports.”

Chairman PAAPAM Mumshad Ali stated that "The demand for automobiles is expected to rise continuously over the next 3-5 years. Countries of comparable population, such as Indonesia, produce 1.3 million vehicles annually. The big challenge for the Government is to give confidence to local assemblers & vendors to make immediate investments in capacity expansion to meet the upcoming demand.
